As I start on STP enhancements, it is worth asking, how many users
of bridge actually use STP, and if so how big a network is involved.

we work actually in a project, which has to have spanning tree support,
but we really need faster reconfiguration. If necsessary, we will start
to implement RSTP (802.1w) support in the 2.4.x kernel.
