I don't know, but my assumption is that the 192's are coded green in
the matrix because ESI disclosed the required details without NDA
strings attached. We just need to find out if this is actually the
case, and if so, where to get those details for ourselves.

Is there an authoritative person on vendor data ? i'd imagine that
whoever maintains the matrix must have had it on good authority, that
data had been released.

Sure enough, no response.

My understanding is that the VIA piece of the puzzle is already in
place in ALSA (CVS at least, maybe release now). By overriding the
EPROM version validator in that driver, I have actually gained access
to the Waveterminal's registers through amixer et al. It just doesn't
capture or make any actual sound.
This is sortof frustrating because it suggests very little is needed
to make the card actually work.

Hi,
Frank Neumann of the linux audio devel list has been kind enough to send
the email address of the contact he made at Musikmesse 2002, this is the
guy who sent the Wamibox code over (http://eca.cx/lad/2002/06/0167.html)
its jeypREMOVETHIS@egosys.co.kr
I suggest that if we dont recieve a response from your earlier email to
egosys we should try this guy.
regards,
Chris

That's what I suspect.
I just emailed the contact for the esi-pro.com domain (for lack of a
better contact) as follows:

Hi,
I guess that we haven't received a reply from ESI regarding this ?
I just emailed another contact there, so ill see if i get a reply, but
if not is it worth trying the manufacture of the envy24ht chip (via i
think) maybe they will give us info on the firmware of the card ?

One would think so, at least de facto - whoever maintains the matrix.
I emailed perex@suse.cz about the issue but got no response.

Unfortunately, the firmware in the Waveterminal 192's has a different
version number (version 220 or somesuch) than that addressed by those
patches (version 1), and the firmware is sufficiently different that
Waveterminals don't work. You can do amixer stuff, but no actual
sound. So it's the vendor specific firmware details that are
missing.

So theres no hope unless the vendor will release some data ?
If its any use, theres a thread here of from linux-audio-dev, by a guy
who got some code out of EgoSys no code for the waveterminal though.

No one's told me where to get the internal details, so I haven't been
able to make a start yet. (I have a 192X sitting idle.)

Hi,
I have a EgoSys / ESI Waveterminal 192M card using an Envy24HT chip (aka
VIA VT1724 i think), which is possible to support according to the
matrix, but no driver has been written yet.
Ive seen a few threads in the archive which suggest people were looking
at development, and i was just wondering how it was going.
thanks,
Chris W
