I also have NX with full KDE running inside UML. Works a treat. so far I
have had 5 such UMLs running within a single 2.5GHz/1Gb single CPU
system and they are very usable.
Now to try multiple NX/UMLs running on an OpenSSI cluster ;-)

X with network-enabled displaymanager inside uml is not new to me for 2

hi!
NX is a revolutionary X11 protocol compression which lets you run X11
over low bandwidth / low latency wan links.
did you every run X11 over 56k and wondered, how bad this works?
so - NX is for you :)
see the faq at: http://www.nomachine.com/faq.php
you really should http://www.nomachine.com/testdrive.php give a try.
it`s impressing.
regards
roland

thanks!
but why that extreme happy-dance?
did anyone doubt NX would run in uml?

With lbxproxy to? Six (or more) years ago I played tetris over 28.800

extreme? did i ? :)
NX is just a very cool product being worth mentioned - and for the NX
team it is probably interesting or even important to know, that (and how) it
runs with UML:)
vice versa, it could be an interesting thing for uml providers/hosters.
> did anyone doubt NX would run in uml?
yes, me! ;)
i didn`t only test it to see it run, but to see how it performed.
UML is good - and it`s comparatative stable - but it`s not perfect (yet) ;)
btw: NX crashed my UML about a hour ago while logging in - unfortunately it`s not
reproducable.

roland

oooooh....
the last crash i had was a suddnely terminating uml process ( just
falling down to the host prompt without any error message and i am not
good runtime-debugger :-( ) when i tried to compress multiple copies of
linux-2.4.24 sources with all compression metods e2compr (see
e2compr.sourceforge.net) offers in parallel...
there i really dont know who is to blame.... uml or e2compr?

uml, unless you pushed the uml guest too far in memory usage..
no applications should be able to terminate the uml, but if you push a
Linux system too far in memory usage bad things will often happen..
