Bullshit.  If ALSA provides too many controls then GNOME volume control
should abstract them a bit.  For example, use separate tabs for playback
and capture, like alsamixer, or leave some elements out, instead of
blithely cramming every mixer element into one tab without regard to
whether it will fit on screen or whether that mixer control SHOULD be
user visible.  Sorry, this is not ALSA's job.
