I've just compared the results with the alsa-driver-1.0.9rc1 and alsa-driver-1.0.9rc2 tarballs
with my Audigy2 sound card.

The summary: I can record via the microphone with rc1, but can't with rc2.

The command I'm using is:

$ arecord -d10 -f cd -t wav > test.wav

Cheers,
Chris

This is a known problem. We have isolated it to something committed to
CVS between 3-22 and 3-24 IIRC (check list archive). I posted the "cvs
diff" output. We need someone to go though that patch and figure out
which change is responsible.

I'm sure. But that someone would need to be able to divide that diff up into logically related
units such that each unit could be backed out, and the tree still expected to compile afterwards.

Chris

Problem is, that your card was not detected correctly and ac97 mixer
initialization is was not run.
Looks like card identification broke lot of cards and things.

Does this patch fix the problem?

Never mind, Peter's patch is obviously more complete.

Latest CVS doesn't help - do I need to wait 24 hours for your fix to show up?

Cheers,
Chris

Yes. Just apply the patch Peter posted to the mailing list if you don't
want to wait.
