What is the status of the "no mic" problem on hda-intel?

Hi!

I would like to know what is the status of the issue regarding the fact
that we don't have MIC input on hda-intel based cards. Anyone working on
that?

I've checked from bugs #2038 and #2237.

There is no "no mic" problem on hda-intel - the problem is with specific
Sigmatel HDA codecs.

The status is exactly as the bug report says - it doesn't work yet.
Probably no developer has the hardware necessary to debug it.

Hmm - tiwai, can you take a look at the last comment in bug #2038?
Apparently loading with the undocumented "ref" model fixes the issue.
Do we need PCI ids from affected users?  Or can this be made the default
for Sigmatel HDA codecs?

Actually it's not a problem of sigmatel codec.  It's a problem of
BIOS. 

I've heard that Dell provides a BIOS update that seems fixing the
problem.  But, for convenience, it might be better to privide a static
pin configuration.

The problem is that model=ref is designed for the Intel reference
board and there is no guarantee that the all mappings are correct for
Dell machine(s).  So, I won't pick it up without a certain testing
that no regression occurs by that.

The next step is:
 - try all functionalities with model=ref and check regressions
 - if no regression, go to pick up model=ref for the certain PCI SSIDs
 - if any regression, tune up pin configuration manually, by
   trial-and-error
