Is there a way to disable full duplex mode at runtime for OSS emulation?
Perhaps a writable /proc entry or an environment variable? I have a
SBLive, which uses the emu10k1 driver.

I don't think so. What problem are you trying to solve?

The problem is a game called Terminus. It spawns separate threads to
handle each half of the duplex. However, one of the threads has a bug in
it I think, because it goes into an endless loop and hangs the whole
app. It works fine with native OSS drivers, because the OSS emu10k1
driver doesn't implement full duplex, and the program skips spawning the
thread.

So basically, I need a way to turn off full duplex before running this
program.

I have posted to this list about 'Linux Duplex bug', which arises because the
OSS control can only set one value for DSP_NUMBER_OF_CHANNELS. Problems
occur if the duplex stream has different record and playback numbers of
channels. Just in case this is relevant here, look up the posting.

Yes, see ALSA-Configuration.txt and Procfile.txt.

Thanks for the tip.

Seems that I don't have the /proc/asound/card0/pcm#[cp]/oss entries. I'm
running 1.0.11 (gentoo packages). Any thoughts?

james@Rainsong /proc/asound/card0 $ ls
codec97#0/ fx8010_code fx8010_tram_data midi1 voices
emu10k1 fx8010_gpr id midi2 wavetableD1
fx8010_acode fx8010_tram_addr midi0 oss_mixer
james@Rainsong /proc/asound/card0 $

Did you enable CONFIG_SND_VERBOSE_PROCFS?

That did the trick. Thanks.
