I wonder if Udev coul fix my problem. 
Most applications require The plughw:x,y syntax. 

In fact, I would like my first USB device to be plughw:0,0 and the
second USB device to be plughw:1,0.

Any solution to be able to set the plughw numbers of two identical
devices? I am using Kernel 2.6.20 with udev.
