Hi,
i tried to use the bug tracking system but your MX seems to be not
available (thus I couldn't create an account for submitting).
alsa-project.org seems to be down so my research was very limited.
Problem:
The audio out on my Dell Docking station stopped working somewhere
around 2.6.20-rc?. While the normal headphone (and speaker) output on
the notebook are muted as soon as i attach the speakers to the docking
station's audio out there's no signal on the output.
I can test older kernel versions, but would like to make sure that I'm
testing the right think first.
Hardware in question:
Dell Latitude 610 with a Dell docking station.
| intel8x0_measure_ac97_clock: measured 50522 usecs
| intel8x0: clocking to 48000
| ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:1e.3[B] -> Link [LNKB] -> GSI 5 (level,
low) -> IRQ 5

Please contact me for further information.

I don't know what's going on there, too...

That's a known problem.

I don't expect it ever worked as it is as I have a long-standing
bugzilla entry for this.

These messages look normal.

Well it worked for me (tm) as long as I didn't change normal and docking
station line-out while running. I will test older kernels, maybe there
are some clues in the debug output (as i boot windows from time to times
it could also be that the windows driver did setup some registers, we'll
see).
cheers,
andreas

Oh, I didn't know that it worked one. OK, that's a good news.
Let me know if you find anything.
thanks,
Takashi

I tried some earlier kernel, but haven't gotten any positive results
yet. The task is made harder as I didn't use the docking station in the
last weeks. Has anything changed with alsa-lib?
The docking station out was working, albeit way to loud. Changing the
Intel ICH6 SigmaTel STAC9750,51 IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA tristate
control from full to anything other muted the output.
cheers,
Andreas

Interesting. Usually AC97-SPSA specifies the AC97 slot for SPDIF
output. The full (= 3) means the slot 10/11, 0 means slot 3/4.
IIUC, AC97-SPSA must be 3 for docking station output working?
If yes, try to set spdif_aclink=1 with the latest driver (HG
version)...
