Maybe it's something I'm doing wrong, but I have a 15gb image that I use
with disk = [ "tap:aio:/root/images/vista32.img,hda,w" ]

It was working fine on Friday, but today it failed to boot with an error
message.

The same works fine when I replace "tap:aio:" with "file:". It seems
like qemu-dm tries to open the file with the "aio:" still attached -
judging by the message in qemu-dm.<pid>.log.

I can't see any recent changes that is supposed to change this - did I
miss something, or is it just gone broken?

Are you using pygrub? Currently booting from tap:aio fails with pygrub.
See patch at:

Cheers,

Nope, not using pygrub, and I just tested it with my current setup
(Change-set 14401 + 1 patch from Tim Deegan (fix for SMP HVM
save/restore)).
