Hello list,

I have already clarified ( and fell very sorry ) that grub 1.98 in not in lenny but in testing squeeze. I gave it a try to modifying grub2.cfg as

` ` `
set gfxmode=640x480
insmod biosdisk
insmod pc
insmod font
insmod vbe
insmod gfxterm
insmod videotest
insmod tga
insmod png
insmod gfxmenu

set menuviewer="gfxmenu"
set theme="/boot/grub/themes/winter/theme.txt"

### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_linux ###
menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.31.vesa" {
   insmod reiserfs
   set root=(hd0,3)
   search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 291bf7b2-ae4a-4de9-8892-05caca7c0950
   linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31.vesa root=/dev/hda3 ro  vga=792  quiet
}
menuentry "Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.31.vesa (recovery mode)" {
   insmod reiserfs
   set root=(hd0,3)
   search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 291bf7b2-ae4a-4de9-8892-05caca7c0950
   linux /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31.vesa root=/dev/hda3 ro single
}

` ` `

And finally did

cp -Rvf GRUBtheme/ themes/

After restarting the machine I get the same old grub, no menu :-(

Have I missed something in my config or the testing branch is still no ready to support it ?

Thanks

You missed loadfont and terminal_output gfxterm statements. I recommend
using TERMINAL_OUTPUT=gfxterm and GRUB_THEME=

/boot/grub/themes/winter/theme.txt

Be sure to use scalable theme (newer format)

Seems like you missed my reply to your initial mail about this:

Only Debian experimental (and my PPA for Ubuntu though) has Colin
Bennets theming code (gfxmenu).

OH ! I really missed that. So again waiting for that to be available in testing :-(
Thanks for your response.

Thanks for your response but as Felix Zielcke pointed out that testing branch is not supporting gfxmenu at present.
