We're now in the planning stages for the 1.5 release scheduled for about
6 months time. The process hasn't changed, if there are things you'd
like to see worked on in this timeframe, please ensure there are entries
for them in the bugzilla. Usually these are "enhancement" requests.

https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/

We as a project will then go through these, decide on which ones to work
on and at which priorities and then work through these in the 1.5
timeframe in the usual way.

Obviously the project members do have some say in what they ultimately
work on, equally I've always tried to ensure OE community priorities
also get some attention and I'd say we have a pretty good track record
there of getting things done. What I can say for sure is that if it
isn't there, it is unlikely to get worked on.

If you do plan to work on something yourself, it really does also help
me and the team for it to be listed in there as I have some idea of when
its coming and can for example make sure that we have enough runway for
autobuilder testing and so on. It also means two people don't do the
same thing!

Cheers,

Richard

[the following is meant to be humourous, please take it as such]

What I'm hoping to see in the next release is a better release name.
Male first names was the best suggestion? I recommend the next release
be named "Dani", a female version of "Danny", just to keep things
equal.

The current scheme may be opaque and mysterious, but it's a fun game
trying to guess the themes. :) Danni would be a terrible name as
you'd need to qualify male or female Danny/Danni when speaking...

For anyone who can't remember the name->number mappings, I recently
created http://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Releases.

Of course it would be a terrible name, that's why I suggested it; I
figured it'd fit in with the others :-D

(don't forget my earlier statement about this being done in jest)

I think the other names are good as far as codenames go, but then
again I made numerous releases of a CD ripper using a lyric from
whatever song I was listening to at the time as the codename...

I agree that an alphabetical sequence as Ubuntu has popularised would
be convenient, but that would go against the unwritten rules of
Richard changing theme then people start guessing and deciding the
codename at the last minute. :)
