So RP is complaining a bit about inconsistencies in the way we prefix our
Toaster patches. I, for one, have been guessing them all along, and I have
no idea what I should actually use. Does anybody know?
Thanks!

In the "poky:" tree, we need to use:
# bitbake: toaster: descriptive patch name
In the "bitbake" tree, the "bitbake: " prefix is dropped:
# toaster: descriptive patch name
I am attaching this and the script I'm using to move patches from "poky"
(where development happens) to "bitbake" (where submission happens) to
https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Contribute_to_Toaster
Cheers,
Alex

Thanks for this information, but I just want to be 100% clear on this as I
am new to the project. I've asked a question below.

So in my branches on poky-contrib, is it necessary for me to use "bitbake:
toaster:" as a prefix for all my commits?
Thanks.

What you use in poky-contrib isn't particularly important. What matters
is when the patches come for merging on bitbake-devel, they state the
area they touch (often toaster:) but not "bitbake:" since in the bitbake
repo that is somewhat pointless. When these merge back to poky, the
bitbake prefix is automatically added.
Cheers,
Richard
