Summary: Need help
Description:
Where may I get help to complete installation?
I have compiled and installed but unable to get sound.
Perhaps your driver does not support my on-board sound: Analog
Devices SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio
Windows XP driver 5.12.1.3630 by Sensaura Ltd.
Is there a chat room where I can get help?
Thanks, John Way

Not familiar with this site, sorry if insufficient info supplied.
My system: Intel mbd D 865 PERL. 3.0 GHz, 1Gb ram, 185 Gb HD.
Sound chip on motherboard is possibly ICS CJ360365, 0333 952618BF, 56-pin
IC. Some of those numbers may be production IC batch numbers?
OS is Debian Linux 3.1Roa, 2.4.27-2-686 kernel.
D/l ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.9rc4a.tar.bz2
.configure modified to set sound option. Compiled, installed, no error.
I don't find any AD SoundMax driver reference- is there an alternate?
No sound. I don't know what to do next. -Tnx, JLW

Did you use alsamixer to unmute all channels and raise the volumes?
Also you can't just install the alsa-driver package, you also need
alsa-kernel and alsa-lib.
