When is it schedualed to be released? Are there certain new features that the
end user will notice? If so what are they?

It's still far too early for a release date to be set. For comparison,
going from 2.3.0 to 2.4.0 took eighteen months or so, and 2.5 has
been going for about five months.

-- Better support for hot pluggable USB devices
-- a different configuration system (possibly including device autodection)
-- the enhanced security work from the NSA
-- better power management (especialy ACPI)
-- better performance, hopefully.
plus any other interesting stuff which gets written in the meantime.

Hi all.
I'm not sure the new denomination will be "2.6". I was
reading in anyplace that depending of proof of changes, maybe
Linus choose give the step to the "3.0" name.

Hi,
I saw that new kernel will be incoming 2.6.
I have question what is new in this version about ax.25?
What is changed between 2.2.x and 2.6?
The developers AX.25 in Linux kernel put Flexnet protocol ?

Anyone had any luck running DOSEMU on kernel 2.6? I installed test6,
getting coredumps as it loads. Any known trick, or should I disclose
more info?

DPMI crashes because DOSEMU makes assumptions about the CS and DS
registers which changed in 2.6 because Linus added support for sysenter.
This DOSEMU bug is presently only fixed in the CVS. Alternatively look at
the patch here:
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=3207814&forum_id=8386
which also mentions a problem with vm86 (but that's a kernel issue).
