Hi all,
I have a Slackware 8.0 box in which I had to downgrade XFree to 3.6, because
4.0.1 doesn t support very well my cl-gd5434 video card. When I first installed
3.6, everything worked fine. Then I had to reboot and since then whenever I
start X (with gnome+enlightenment) I get multiple messages like this:
Gdk-WARNING **: locale not suported by Xlib, locale set to C
Gdk-WARNING **: can not set locale modifiers
I checked that I do have the XFree locales installed.
The symptom I get is that X doesn t seem to have the fonts I need to use
Portuguese accents. I don t really know if that is related to the locale
problem, but both things started at the same time.
The way I usually configure accents is, I load the us-acentos.map.gz and
then disable Xkb in XFree86. I have been using that in a number of systems
for over a year without a problem.
Can anybody help?
TIA
