Currently, my itch with ALSA (0.9.0rc3-0.1) is that I can't find any
tool to upload patches (instruments, soundfonts) to my old GUS PnP
(and the OSS emulation isn't *that* thorough) --- my best Google hits
discussed the device interface for uploads.
So, as I'm about to start writing an upload tool myself, I wonder if
it's already been done by somebody (well hidden from Google). I'd be
just as happy using someone else's tool as writing one myself.

But what would you do with that tool? ALSA doesn't support MIDI emulation
on GUS. Only thing you can use at this time is the simple instuments for
MOD playback.

Ouch! But you are right, of course.

...or for pmidi, which spins its wheel like a nice little hamster, but
no sound is forthcoming. I thought that was because I hadn't uploaded
any patches to the card, but now I wonder about the ROM patches (this
tangent seems to lead over to the alsa-user list...enough of that!).
Anyway, the patch set I really want to use is on my disk.
