The Linux 2.4.70 kernel has been released a few days ago, it contains lots of changes means, according to Linux, a milestone in its way to 2.6 release. Andrew Morton and other kernel devs are working hard, and 2.5 kernel series are starting a stablizing process, so we can expect a 2.6 release in about 4 or 5 months if the developement goes on that fast. But how about Reiser4 ?
Hans said it would be available as 2.6 kernel comes out, but do you really think you'll be able to achieve the last part of the developement until 2.6 ?
Would Linus integrate Reiser4 in the 2.6 kernel even if the testing process is not complete (he personally said 2.6 kernel will still need lots of testing even after its release) ?
Do you plan to link Reiser4 release with the 2.6 kernel announcement ?
How about the BitKeeper repositery : does it contain the latest 2.5 kernel sources along with your Reiser4 developement patches ?
Fred

Yes, our reiser4-linux-2.5 bk reporsitory contain latest 2.5 kernels sources + patches to make UML arch functional + necessary
reiser4 changes. And our reiser4 bk repository contains current reiser4 code.
Bye,
Oleg

I just checked it out and it's 2.5.70 sorry ;)
I'd just like to ask you : when I download the whole bk tree, it takes about
400Mb for the kernel source & reiserprogs. I'd like to clean the bk files
out, how can I do that ? I just need the source files that I can further
compile, and do not care about all that bk stuff that takes too much room on
my HD ;)
Thank you,
Fred

if you have local repository, you can do just that with
bk export -tplain destdir
Only you need full repository for that.
Bye,
Oleg

beware that we seem to have added some bug that reduces write
performance by 5x. We'll try to fix it tomorrow.

Ask these questions again when we release Reiser4.
We hope to release a beta in July.
