gcc 3.5 does not like this anymore. 
This is 2.6.8-rc1

GNU C version 3.5.0 20040711 (experimental) (powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu)
        compiled by GNU C version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux).
GGC heuristics: --param ggc-min-expand=30 --param ggc-min-heapsize=4096
scripts/kconfig/mconf.c:91: error: static declaration of 'current_menu' follows non-static declaration
scripts/kconfig/lkc.h:63: error: previous declaration of 'current_menu' was here
