Hi all I relatively new to Linux - so I apologize ahead of time if this
is a dumb question
I wanted to get an APRS system up and running on my sun Ultra 2 creator
running debian. This is to replace the weather station that was running
on my tired old mac.
I downloaded the Xastir package and got it all onto my sun. ...... only
there is no installation guide. the instructions pick up after a
successful installation. i've unpackaged the software but what to I do
now??? there is no executable image called Xastir. Also, before I get
any further into this is this the best game in town (or will it even
work on my hardware?)
thanx so much for your patients and help
mark

Don't know if it will work on your Sun HW, but try this...

Ah - that is what I was looking for!

on that first
thanx for the help and I will keep you up-to-date on my progress (...
and i'm sure I will have more simple questions)

That document is now part of the Xastir sources, as of yesterday,
but there's a hardware problem with the anonymous CVS servers for
some of the SourceForge projects, including the one that serves up
Xastir. Supposed to be fixed by today, but we'll see.
There are other documents in the distribution that should help.
INSTALL is probably the other file you should look at.
Subscribe to the "Xastir" mailing list and ask questions there.
Lot's of people hang out there that can help with questions like
these.

No, but there should be a binary called "xastir" (no capital).
If not, there's a bug in the package.
