Am I completely loosing it ?

Using 2.6.10-rc2-mm3 allows me to go into a file as a directory when
the file has the executable flag...that shouldn't be happening, should
it?

root@firewall:~# ls -l file
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 2004-11-29 13:50 file
root@firewall:~# cd file
root@firewall:~/file# ls
ls: reading directory .: Not a directory

Yiannis.

Is this a sign that files-as-dirs are seen stable enough by AKPM
to no longer be disabled by default?

If it is, it's time to pop a bottle of celebratory beer ;)

Forgive my short-sightedness in this respect, but where's the benefit in this approach?:)

This is one of those shitfests that I really don't want to touch.
It's an approach that has a lot of potential but there's not much
practice in it yet; I recommend you read namesys.com for details.

You are right. Now, it should not happen.
