That's weird. There were some changes between 1.40 and 1.50,
but they were put into place to support future generations of
AMD processors. Nothing in there should affect your system.

The PowerNow! driver depends rather heavily on the ACPI
subsystem, and I don't know how much that changed.

If you're willing to try an experiment, could you copy the
arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/powernow-k8.c file from your
2.6.12.4 directory into the same 2.6.13.3 directory? Then
recompile and reboot. If it still doesn't work, it's an ACPI
or BIOS problem. If it does work, it's a problem with the
driver. Either way, tell me and I'll look into it more.

It looks like it. There was a change between 2.6.12.3
and 2.6.13.4 that stops Linux from finding the _PSS
or _PCT objects on your system.

Dominik -

You're listed in the credits for processor_perflib.c.
Something in that file changed between 2.6.12.3 and
2.6.13.4 to prevent acpi_processor_register_performance()
from working on a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum motherboard.

I suspect it isn't finding the _PCT, because AMD saw a
similar bug on an internal BIOS. I reported it to our
BIOS team to resolve, but it now appears to be a Linux
regression. How can we fix this?

Hi!

I have an AMD64 3200+ Socket 939 with Core Winchester on a MSI K8N Neo4
Platinum. With kernel 2.6.12.4 i had no problem, but with the my new Kernel
2.6.13.3 i have this error:

powernow-k8: Found 1 AMD Athlon 64 / Opteron processors (version 1.50.3)
powernow-k8: BIOS error - no PSB or ACPI _PSS objects

The Bios Version on my Motherboard is the latest as aviable on MSI Web site.

What can i done?

Thanks, Andrea
