I have been getting a number of USE (UnSolicited Email) that are coming from
the Linux-hams list .

I thought this list was moderated ?

If it is an open relay, why is that ?

I value the postings that are sent to this list for the reason the list was
started, but am concerned about the increase in spam coming from it.

Is the list moderator on vacation/holiday ?

Not complaining, just curious...

tia for any input.

To the best of my knowledge, the list is not moderated. Spam is a fact
of life, unfortunately. Set up some filtering (spamassassin, etc.)

Please try not to flame the list admins (via pointed or barbed comments)
for the occasional spam message. Before shooting arrows, make sure you
clearly see the target. Double check, research it, and think it through.

I've been recieving a lot of spam from the list. Is there any way
you guys could filter it? Also my address seems to have been
harvested from the web archives. It there anything that can be done
to obscure email addesses?

Thanks in advance!

Anthony

Hi,

I suggest putting the list to "subscribers only" and push those few
leftover messages through manually. On a mailing list I have there
are 20+ spams per day but a single good post stays in the filters in a
month or two. Fair enough..
