Hi All

I'm trying to compile a fresh git kernel, with latest sources pulled today,
Aug. 10. To no avail so far.

OS is Debian/unstable, last time I upgraded the system as far as the
dependencies allowed doing that was yesterday, Aug. 10.

---------------------
$ cat /proc/cpuinfo
processor : 0
cpu : 7447A, altivec supported
clock : 833.333000MHz

pmac flags : 00000019
L2 cache : 512K unified

Here's the config I used:

The compile messages:

Yes. Works. Although I could take the patches on the pages above from the
the corresponding messages that are still in my mail folder ... :)

Strange tho' - for me at least - that these patches from about 5 weeks (!)
ago still don't seem to have made it into the current git tree ...

Ditto: Thanks. To Michael Ellerman, too :)

Hmm, yeah. My fault for not chasing them up :)

Paul, any objection to these two?

cheers

I've hit the same build error in 2.6.18-rc4. Maybe the patches should also be added to the main kernel tree?

Niels Kristian

5 weeks ago was a particularly bad time for patches trying to get into
the git tree, since I was on vacation and then travelling to OLS. :)

I've picked up these patches now and I'll send them on for inclusion
in 2.6.18.

Paul.

Michael, Paul, and everyone else being involved:

My apologies for my perhaps too strong wording when I was complaining
about the delay ... I didn't mean the words as ugly as they actually
might read ...

And after all <wild guess following ... :) > if there were more folks
actually compiling these kernels on machines like the one mentioned,
*and* telling about the results, the delay perhaps would have been
much shorter .. :)

Thanks for your fine work for this software, to everyone out there in
Kernel City.

Best Regards
Wolfgang

No worries, thanks for catching the error and reporting it.
