Hello again,

While working on the w83627EHF - fancontrol stuff based on Yuan work, I came up 
to the fan4/fan5 shared function PIN  (programable pin 119 and 58)

The pin 119 has nice table and CR register that switches the function. While 
pin58 lacks of such table. Please can you be so kind and ask someone @winbond 
how to detect if the pin58 is fan or serial flash?

I check datasheet rev1.1 and earlier.

Hi,

I have not get this driver to work, yet. Even with another board not (from asus too). Sensors output looks ok, but if i write 0 to pwm1 the fan does not react.

Maybe I can distribute some information, which may help to analyse this problem?

Kernel: 2.6.19-rc6

Hi Torsten,

Have you tried playing with pvm2 instead of pvm1 ?
On my ASUS MB, only pvm2 works and it's connected to the CPU Fan. I did 
never manage to have pvm1 nor pvm3 affect any other fan.

About the value you put in pvm2, my MB reacts to values from 27 to 255.

Hi,

this didnt help too. I have switched all 3 pwms to thermal cruise, so that they lowered the pwm entry every few seconds. None of the fans has reacted. 

Did you run an ehf chip too?

I also run an ehf chip.

I'm using quite an outdated version of the driver. So your mileage may 
vary.

Still, when I want to play with fans, it not working immediately.

I have to mess a lot with pvm2_enable / pvm2_mode, echo'ing 1 or 2 in it 
before it starts working. I still haven't found which sequence makes it 
works, because even after rmmod'ing and modprobing the driver everything 
is working fine.

I suspect that when I set the CPU fan to 20% in the BIOS, the chip gets in 
a state which is not what is expected by the driver. Thus, to make it 
working I have to play a little time with it before it gets in a normal 
state.

Hi,

I have just seen, it is actually an ehg chip. That is supposed to be compatible. But maybe not 100%.

Do you running the chip with pwm_mode 1 or 2, after it starts working?
