I started the process of moving to the wiki'ized page, then dropped it
out of laziness (apparently). If you're interested in moving more stuff
there and separating into a mainpage with links to all the others, that
would be great.
Note, a wiki can't replace a mailing list. I'm not going to go watch a
webpage change, but I will read the posts to a mailing list :)
Thanks,

Agreed. I think that wiki-izing the TODO list is a good idea. It certainly would have helped me find things to do when I was looking, and I'm sure it would help when I start looking for things to do again.
I also agree that I won't be able to follow changes to a webpage easily. I'd much rather follow a mailing list. But having some simple status information on the wiki page would be beneficial. Just name / email address and date started would probably be enough.

i'm not suggesting that the wiki entirely replace the mailing list in
terms of the ToDo list, but it would be a more permanent record of
outstanding items and their completion status, and it would be far
easier to keep up to date.
and if a small group of people get heavily involved in some item, they
can chat via the wiki page rather than clogging up the mailing list.
as a start, here's a suggestion:
1) on the KJ ToDo page, add a new link Under "Wiki" entitled "To Do
List"
2) have that link take you to an empty page where people can start
adding new To Do entries to a list, *each* of which will be a link to
a page associated with that item, discussing the details of that item,
who is currently working on it (if anyone), arguments on the best way
to go about it, etc.
and that's it. this might be a bit disorganized for the first little
while, but it should be easy to work the bugs out quickly.
let's just start with the new link under the "Wiki" heading and see
where that leads.

G'day people
I also think a wiki is a very good idea.

I think another important benifit is the ability to add links to new
developments and extra information. like threads on lkml for instance
where poeple are talking about the relavent areas, rejected patches
and the reasons they were rejected, or what an acceptable patch for
that To Do item looks like.
