Sure.  Then setlease() just becomes a simple BKL-taking wrapper around
__setlease(); is that what you were thinking of?

Subject: [PATCH] locks: share more common lease code

Share more code between setlease (used by nfsd) and fcntl.

Also some minor cleanup.
