Hi,

I got this in my dmesg:
ACPI: System BIOS is requesting _OSI(Linux)
ACPI: Please test with "acpi_osi=!Linux"
Please send dmidecode to linux-acpi@vger.kernel.org

acpi_osi="!Linux" makes a big difference on this laptop. If I boot without
it the system hangs on boot unless I specify "noapic". noapic in turn
generates a lot more interrupts that have to be handled by irqfixup or
irqpoll.

Regards,

Gerard

Hi!
I saw a lot of the dmidecode messages and attached my dmidecode output (with
kernel.parameter acpi_osi=!Linux).
But there is no different if I use this parameter or not.
Regards,
Markus

so you see no functional difference when booting with

"acpi_osi=Linux" (default for 2.6.22 and earlier)
vs.
"acpi_osi=!Linux" (default for 2.6.23 and later)

Also, please send me the output from acpidump.

thanks,

If you don't have acpidump, you can get it from pmtools here:
