Just talked with Robert on IRC about it.
The ReleasePlanning page on wiki is "a bit" unmaintained
The estime date for 1.96 release is 2006-11-04 but it was actually released 2008-02-03 
and now you are even talking about 1.97 which isn't listed there

So I'll suggest to remove it, if nobody is able to keep it up to date
I would have the time and I'm even interested in helping as I already told Robert
But I don't know what release goals you have for the next version :)
I subscribed to grub-devel just about a month ago

You are right. I made this page some years ago, because it had been useful to 
set up some goals explicitly at the early development stage. Then, at a 
point, I got inactive, and the page was outdated.

I will find a way to keep it up-to-date.

Thanks, it's surely interesting what things are planned for the next release and not just having that genereal todo list.
but it just doesn't look good if the last entry is more then a year ago :)

And thanks for doing something against these randompage/findpage spam pages on wiki.
Totally forgot to tell somebody as I removed them.
Just saw that on the recentchanges history
MoinMoin >= 1.6 has text capchas but I don't know if that would help against this.

I hope that you still try to find a way to update that page at least
once now.
Honourly I'd like to just remove it.

Before I started to constribute with grub2, a bit more then 2 months
ago, I practically only know that there is a thing called grub2.
But now I've learned much about it's current state, I even try hard on
IRC to get people to use it instead of grub-legacy.

The current state of this page isn't making a good view of grub2.

1.96 was actually released 2008 not 2006 as the page says.
and according to that page grub2 is still not as good as grub-legacy,
but I personally think it is except some missing features and
documentation.
But just for the bugs it is in my opion.

I don't have a problem at all if you don't do this but it's currently
not at all true.

Okuji please try to find a bit time to update that page at least once.

The next Debian stable release named `lenny' will ship with grub2 and
hopefully for the stable release after it named `squeeze' grub2 will be
the default instead of grub-legacy.

grub2 is really in a good shape now but if people look at that page I
doubt they get it.
