[dm-crypt] What cipher mode on Android?

Hi there,

can somebody tell me, which of these cipher modes is more secure? aes-cbc-plain or aes-cbc-essiv:md5? Or what cipher mode do you recommend to use on Android 2.3?

Well, it is also a replacement for a proper manual, or at least tries
to be one.
