When trying to build this recipe, I get this error:
configure: error: Package requirements (xorg-server >= 1.3 xproto fontsproto libdrm >= 2.4.36 libdrm_omap xf86driproto randrproto renderproto videoproto xextproto) were not met:
No package 'libdrm_omap' found
Where can I find this package?
Thanks

Bottom line: I should just use the latest Poky/Yocto tree? I just updated
the meta-ti(master) and the quoted patches don't seem to have been applied
(the xf86-video-omap_git.bb is still present)

Indeed you need to apply them for now. Denys should be merging them soon.
But a tested-by won't hurt...

They just been merged. Had a slight delay testing the master branch - too much
time spent dealing with denzil-based releases here from multiple teams... :(

No problem. Thx. So now both poky master and danny should work on panda
with meta-ti BSP layer (master and danny branch respectively). And both
with 3.4 kernel, omapdrm driver and x11 video-omap.

Sadly, it's still breaking when I build using the latest:
checking whether to include DRI support... checking for /usr/include/xorg/dri.h... configure: error: cannot check for file existence when cross compiling
Configure failed. The contents of all config.log files follows to aid debugging
/home/local/p82_poky/tmp/work/armv7ahf-vfp-neon-amltd-linux-gnueabi/xf86-video-omap/2_0.4.2+gitr9+653ccadb38c87be565df3fbf2ff24a0cbe5a5e98-r20.1/git/config.log
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.

My bad :-( I still had the old meta-ti recipe in my tree which got
in the way...
I've now managed to build this, yet to test it on my OMAP4 board.

nice... with omapdrm+xf86-video-omap, you should be able to play with
xrandr for dynamic display (X11) resize and even rotation..

Any clues on how to test that (I'm not familiar with xrandr)
Also, with this driver when X blanks the screen (idle/timeout), it
just goes white, not actually disabled/black like the 'fbdev' driver.
Is that something I can configure? This is important because this
is for a battery based device and I need to be careful with every
drop of power use...
Thanks

xrandr should return the list of connected display and the resolution
they support
then to change resolution:
xrandr --output HDMI-1 --mode 800x600 (or any other)
and to rotate:
xrandr --output HDMI-1 --rotate left
you can check man xrandr, e.g.:
--reflect reflection
Reflection can be one of 'normal' 'x', 'y' or 'xy'. This causes the
output contents to be reflected across the specified axes.
--rotate rotation
Rotation can be one of 'normal', 'left', 'right' or 'inverted'. This
causes the output contents to be rotated in the specified direction.
'right' specifies a clockwise rotation of the picture and 'left'
specifies a counter-clockwise rotation.
there are still some bugs with rotation sometimes... but it should be
mostly working.
