TNC2 KISS, jamming everything in sight?

Hi all,
I have a bit of an odd problem with a couple of TNC2s - one running 1.1.6 and the other running 1.1.9 firmware.  They both are quite happy to start transmitting when the channel is busy, keying up over the top of whatever else is there.

I'm sure the firmware in my other TNC2 doesn't do this, but I can't remember what it is (it's new enough to support GPS messages, if that's any help).  Has anyone got any suggestions for possible replacement firmware?  Would I be better trying something like JKISS?

Hello Gordon

That was a known issues with the supplied TNC Software.

We have always used JKISS proms 
never had trouble with these used on all our kiss Interfaces at GB7CIP  and GB7CP

Software Image was  included as part of the BPQ 40# destributions

I've blown a copy of JKISS as supplied in bpq408.zip, but I can't get it to talk when I connect up with kissattach.  I'm not sure I've got the baud rate correct - what should I be using there?  The documentation isn't massively clear.

Disregard.  It works just great.  Don't know what I was doing wrong before...

Since one of these TNCs has a ROM select switch I may try concatenating two ROMs so I can retain "standalone" operation.  Any recommendations for a basic PMS/BBS that'll work with a Tiny-2?

The baud rate is set using the DIP switch on the rear of the TNC2, just as with the stock firmware.  If you have a TNC other than a TNC2 or true clone (MFJ1270, etc) and the baud rate is set by software, the JKISS eprom will not be compatible.

I used JKISS for several years in various TNCs without a single hiccup.
