hi there,
has anyone be able to run qt5 applications in virtualbox or qemu? if
so, what build configuration was used: xcb? eglfs?
When running a 'desktop' distro in VirtualBox we can enable adds-on to
get some support for acceleration, iirc with proper X11 video drivers.
can that be used to run Qt5 application built with OE too?
any detail/instructions publicly available which I might have missed?
thanks
nicolas

Check .bbappends in
https://github.com/webos-ports/meta-webos-ports
there is branch also for 5.2.0 and if you check webos-ports wiki you'll
even find VirtualBox appliance build to test it without building it yourself.

i could run the appliance. this is awesome stuff. pretty much exactly
what i needed. we don't use the wayland QPA, but eglfs, but I don't
see any specific reason why this could be a problem. this stuff is
very nicely designed... a good example of what can be done with OE!

Thanks a lot! We're building currently three different target machines (one is
qemux86 based and for virtualbox) from the same tree and it's working very
well :) Every target has the same core system with just some changed runtime
configuration.
If you have any questions about how to configure the setup feel free to ask :)
regards,
Simon

so I was able to replicate a similar config with our distro and custom
layer (Qt5 apps). that works quite well, i haven't integrated any
'input' for now, but that will be the next step. and for the record, i
am using eglfs, not wayland as the backend.
i noticed that you added the vboxguestdrivers in the image, however i
think i am getting more or less the same behaviour whether i install
them or not. what do you expect vboxvideo kernel driver to bring?
cheers
