Hi all,
We are currently bringing up a custom board (based on sabresd) and
several modifications in the newest kernel (3.15) are interesting us.
But AFAIK, Freescale only supports up to 3.10.17 in the yocto project.
Is there any plan/way to merge the imx6 kernel in the mainline kernel ?
I can see that the sabre sd, and some boundary device boards are
integrated, but I don't know how much differences there is between a
3.15 and the 3.10.17 for instance. I tried to merge using git, but
there are a lot of conflicts.
Thanks in advance,
JM

http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/meta-fsl-arm/tree/recipes-kernel/linux/linux-fslc_3.14.bb
http://freescale.github.io/doc/release-notes/1.6/index.html#document-kernel-linux
Freescale only support 3.10.17-1.0.0-GA kernel in
meta-fsl-release-bsp, because this is the kernel Freescale work with.
However, the FSL Community BSP does support kernel mainline through linux-fslc

I can't find VPU/IPU drivers, are they on the mainline tree maintained
by the community ?

if you need IPU you are actually stuck on the Freescale's kernel.

Wasn´t IPU code under staging? Almost being promoted?
And for VPU, I don´t know if it´s complete (I think it´s not), but
would it be under CODA name?
For GPU, maybe etnaviv has the integration......
(I´m sorry, I don´t have concrete facts to share, only mismatched
memories from past discussions.)

Otavio maybe, as I can see you are the maintainer of the linux-fslc
repository on github ?
Having a complete mainline support for i.MX6 would be great but I know
this is hard to achieve.
Thanks,

The linux-fslc is in fact the mainline plus bugfixes/backports. We
need that people ask for patches to be backported.

Are you sure you two are talking about the same thing?
JM, a complete mainline support for i.MX6 is fantastic. However it
must be done in kernel.org
Otavio, which patches to be backported are you talking about?
I only don´t want to have misunderstandings

As I explained, we can backport fixes/improvements from next but all
needs to be done in linux-arm mailing list first.
