I've been trying to do a fresh build based on SDK 7.0 for a couple of days now and it keeps failing when attempting to check out the linux kernel from git.ti.com.
Is the server down, did it move.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, it is still down due to some hardware issues. It is being worked on, but no ETA.
