Just to clarify things:

 * For all site methods (except local/OVERRIDE_SRCDIR), the steps
   through which a package go are:

   source -> extract -> patch -> configure -> build -> install

 * For the local site method and OVERRIDE_SRCDIR, the steps through
   which a package go are:

   rsync -> configure -> build -> install
