Developers are free to choose the kernel and u-boot versions that they like.
If they prefer to use mainline for zynq7000, they can, but the only fully
validated and tested versions will be the releases from the Xilinx github.
For this reason, I prefer to keep the example defconfigs based on fully
validated releases.
The link below describes how to rebase the Xilinx releases, and
developers can see which patches are not yet included in mainline.

Users can then modify the example defconfigs, if they prefer to switch
to mainline and apply the Xilinx patch set.
