  i'm collecting a bunch of observations and suggestions about the
current bitbake manual -- should i continue posting them to
bitbake-devel, or should that list be reserved for actual bitbake
developer questions rather than documentation?

My apologies, I missed that you'd asked about the bitbake-devel list on the 
oe-core list. The bitbake-devel list is the correct list.
