I'm testing Yocto 1.6 on edm1-fairy board which is an imx6 based board (
http://www.technexion.com/index.php/products/edm/edm-carrier-boards/edm1-fairy
).
I need at least the core-image-x11 image to get Qt5 support.
When I boot the board I get this error:
[ 5.019809] mmcblk1: mmc2:0007 SD08G 7.41 GiB
[ 5.030470] mmcblk1: p1 p2
[ 5.051932] EXT4-fs (mmcblk1p2): mounting ext3 file system using the
ext4 subsystem
[ 5.267823] EXT4-fs (mmcblk1p2): mounted filesystem with ordered data
mode. Opts: (null)
[ 5.276074] VFS: Mounted root (ext3 filesystem) on device 179:26.
[ 5.298443] devtmpfs: mounted
[ 5.301625] Freeing init memory: 180K
sh: cannot set terminal process group (-1): Inappropriate ioctl for device
sh: no job control in this shell
sh-4.3#
This is the uname output:
Linux failyboard 3.0.35-4.1.0-edm_fairy+ga97aa82 #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Apr 28
21:53:12 CEST 2014 armv7l GNU/Linux
I have to tell that during the do_rootfs task I get an error about
initscripts:
Computing transaction error... Can't install dbus etc etc
I wrote on the irc channel that told me to run "bitbake initscripts", after
that the roofs task get done but the board doesn't boot.
Thanks to all,
Riccardo.

This seems like a defconfig error. Please contact TechNexion people
regarding this as this is not supported by our layers.

Hi Otavio,
maybe is a defconfig problem, I see a defconfig patch in the kernel
bbclass. What I'm missing is why the core-image-minimal boot without any
problem.
Is there a way to substitute the defconfig with something used by Yocto?
Thanks, Riccardo.

Has anyone built 3.10.17 images with gstreamer 1.0 for Utilite?

You can replace it in the layer. You should compare the contents and
check the possible changes you need.

Utility has not been send for inclusion in FSL Community BSP so I
think most people are not using/aware of it.

It's a platform that I've been meaning to find time to evaluate. Spec is similar to the Wandboards, but in a product-ready format.
I'm guessing it shouldn't be too difficult to get it running?

It shouldn't. It is a matter of CompuLab sponsor its addition or add
it themselves.

I'm interested in this comment because we also have a i.MX6 board that
uses Yocto but is not currently included.
What is the process for adding a new board to the FSL Community BSP?
Are there any costs involved?
What level of commitment is expected of a board supplier in the future?
I'm not sure we have the resources to be making continual updates like some of you seem to do.
Any guidelines or comments would be great.

Dave C

Someone needs to do the work and commit to maintain it. You essentially need:
- add the board in meta-fsl-arm-extra
- update Release Notes
- has someone as maintainer
all this can be done by the vendor or 3rd party.
> Are there any costs involved?
The FSL Community BSP project is a community project so no costs
involved. You can add the board yourself and send it for review.

The commitment is for maintenance and testing. That's why we demand a
maintainer for every board now. So you (or whoever is the maintainer)
is expected to pay attention to the mailing list, support your users
and keep regular testing of stable and development branches and
someone to fix board specific stuff.
