I don't agree with this.  While it's true that the Linux community
worries about Microsoft and their choke hold on the world, I don't think
they worry any more than the Mac, BSD, or Solaris communities.  Though
you wouldn't know it by reading all of the ranting on Slashdot, most of
the Linux community is doing highly beneficial work and they AREN'T
wasting time.

My favorite example of Microsoft's stance on security is the ability to
hit escape from the login dialog on Windows 9x and have full access to
the local machine.  So, if they're THAT lax on security for something as
simple as a login, why shouldn't people worry about how terrible their
security is in other products?
