My humble guess is that  

-EXTRAVERSION =
+EXTRAVERSION = -ac7

wants to be:

-EXTRAVERSION =
+EXTRAVERSION = -ac8

That's was strange for me too.
compiled ac8 kernel seems as ac7 everywhere
