PIV laptop and PCI problems

PIV laptop and PCI problems

Hi,  I have a brand new laptop with a PIIX/ICH3 IDE chipset which 
neither 2.4.19 or 2.5.15 kernels seem to be able to configure/use correctly.

The root cause appears to be a "resource conflict" - I suspect the 
culprit may be hardware or bios but I'm guessing.....

Below are the relevant (I hope) boot messages and the output from lspci 
- any help/thoughts/ideas would be much appreciated.
