Desktop Manager

Hello

I am going to install Mandrake 8.2 with the new 2.4.18 kernel. But I heard
that the default Desktop manager is not very good. What Desktop Manager do
you suggest for Mandrake. Will all other DMs work on all Linux distros?

KDE isn't that bad of a desktop system.  Tho I myself like windowmaker more. 
http://www.windowmaker.org  and yes all DMs that work on one linux distro will 
work on any other.
