It seems that adding a line,
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Device "Frame Buffer"
Monitor "Generic Monitor"
+ DefaultFbBpp 32
DefaultDepth 24
Seems to do the trick. Don't know if it's needed on other resolutions...
