Hi guys,
Ever since I started using AX25 tools I seem to be getting the foolowing error
message from the kernel in /var/log/messages.
Nov 17 18:15:21 nest-0 kernel: protocol 0000 is buggy, dev ax0
This message keep repeating quite often.
Now this is probably a warning and it does not seem to cause any problems to
my AX25 operation. Has anyone seen this messsage in his setup and what does it
mean please?
I use SUSE 7.3 with 2.4.10-GB kernel and I use the distribution AX25 tools.
On port ax0 I do not use TCP/IP, just AX25 because it is the ax port for my
APRSD. The funny thing is that I do not get any reports on interface ax1 where
I use TCP/IP and it has a pk6 link to AMPRnet. I also have to tell you that I
have assigned an IP address to port ax0 as well, but I do not use any IP on
ax0.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi Demetre,
I have the same problem for a loooong time. I also have lots af messages
like this one in my /var/log/messages:
Nov 18 00:34:36 hamradio kernel: NET: 8 messages suppressed.
These messages arrive with a pace of 1 message every +-4 secs.
I suppose that the fact that I have all the traffic passing trough
linuxnet makes this messages lots of times. (about one error for each
frame received/sent).

Hi Jorge Matias,
Thanks for reply. I wonder if this causes any problems. At this end when I had
a P133 AMD with 32MB RAm, sometimes my radio would key the TNC and TX nothing.
Now I am not sure whether this is a TNC or computer problem. Eversince I
upgraded my hardware to a faster PC (P433 Celeron with 128MB RAM) I have not
observed this problem although the "protocol 0000 is buggy, dev ax0) is still
there. I am not sure what caused the problem though, although it seems that
the old slower PC with the 32MB RAM was at fault, but this problem was not
persistent!!

...
Roumored that latest kernel (pre)release versions don't spit them out. At
least HA5OB/Zoli was happy to see kernel 2.4.20-rc1 ceased complaining.

I'm very pleased to know that, because with all those messages in the
log is very difficult to track other errors.

I also have that TX problem too with my USCC modems.
All these problem occured to me when I had P133 with 64MB (Kernel
2.2.14). Now I have a PII/366 with 128MB and kernel 2.4.18 and the problem
still exists but I think it doesn't affect the radio applications.

Hi
We have here in OH1RCF 4 tnc's and only one is giving protocol is buggy
info...Same as bad checsum messages...
I myself have only one tnc and i get every now and then bad checksum but no
protocol buggy.
We are using 6pack in tnc's...And now we have started thinking that errormsg's
migth come because of bad groundings..ie. Tnc's cases are grounded too lightly
and RF could cause some weird things...
PC is something 333MHz and 64M ram in oh1rcf...I have amd xp-1700+ with
512M ram...
