im reading the code of u-boot

in     <u-boot>/cpu/mpcxx/start.S
under    >relocate_code<    symbol

i can't figure the difference between  _branch 1_  &  _branch 2_
why cmp  _the start addr of the future code in the mem_  and _the  start 
of the flash_ ??
