Hi,
Is MPC8245 supported in the linux kernel downloaded from the devel tree of DENX? I only found six types of processors supported by default, which are 6xx/7xx/74xx/8260, 40x, 440, POWER3, 8xx, and iSeries. If yes, which type shall I select? If not, is there anybody going to support this? U-Boot seems to support this by 824x.

MPC8245 is a basically a 603e core with some embedded controllers. There
is AFAIK support for it in the kernel (at least the mvista brand) and
for the MPC8240. Specific stuff is in mpc10x_common.c
Select 6xx CPU type.

The MPC8245 is supported by the Linux kernel, too. Please configure
for a standard 6xx CPU (CONFIG_PPC=y, CONFIG_PPC32=y, CONFIG_6xx=y,
CONFIG_PPC_STD_MMU=y).

Least as my view as both HW/SW engineer it is one of most essential parts
needed for functional system because it just is not practical attach any
extra
IO etc in high speed SDRAM bus.

You must have missed it. See for example the configurations for the
"ATC" or "PM825" boards (both with MPC8250) in our kernel tree.

The 824x uses mpc10x_common code. The 824x series are NOT PowerQUICC,
they are basically 603e core + MPC107 hostbridge. For PowerQUICC
embedded processors with a PCI bridge (e.g., 8266), you can look at the
mpc8266ads stuff by Andy Lowe.
This code is in the public linuxppc_2_4_devel tree.
