hai,  
          i am new to this list, while i boot the box with newly
complied kernel 2.6.8-1, i lost my network connection, err msg is

"ifup: QM_MODULES: Function not implemented"

in somany places, can you help me to solve this issue,

Install module-init-tools on your box, that will make the modules work 
again.

dear Sir,
 I have a problem in compiling kernel 2.6.4 from kernel 2.4.19. I use
 Debian woody. When I rebooting new kernel, some message occur such:
 "modprobe: QM_MODULES: function not implemented"
 and I can't load my modules when boot. I would like to waiting any one who
 answer this. Please send to this mail. Thanks

You need to upgrade to the new module-init-tools...
and read the 2.6 "update FAQ", from here:

I have a problum.

I made the test.c file for device driver test.

#define MODVERSION
#include <linux/modversions.h>
#endif

int init_module(void) { printk("Hello, kim\n"); return 0; }
void cleanup_module(void) { printk("Goodbye Kim\n"); }

And, compile options
powerpc-linux-gcc -D__KERNEL__ -O -c test.c
/tmp/cc8k7ews.s: Assembler messages:
/tmp/cc8k7ews.s:6: Warning: Ignoring changed section attributes for .modinfo

warning message and i execute the insmod

insmod test.o
insmod : QM_MODULES function not implmented

I don't know, warning message and error message.

you can use insmod, modprobe and others?

That should read:

Haven't seen that message before. If the above doesn't help, try
changing the -O flag to -O2.

Also, what version of binutils are you using?
