hi Hans, and other reiser4 folks.
as you probably know, there is a patchset for the linux kernel thats
called love-sources.
this is a kernel tree that among other patches, focuses mainly on
reiser4, and general functionality.
we are quite many that uses reiser4, and more are to come, just waiting
for a thing to install with.
therefore i have created a gentoo livecd, it has the linux 2.6.5 kernel,
patched with reiser4, and the
tail fix.
as this cd is not only meant as Gentoo installation cd, i have also
included some common system tools.
to make life easier to its users.
we, in #love-sources, freenode believe that working closely together
with namesys, in the final debugging
of reiser4, will ensure a more determined bug catching process.
i have no location on the livecd yet, i dont have hosting.
my plan is something about bittorrent, and maybe i can find some
hosting. but i will have to lookup both stuff. untill then. the livecd
is only availiable if you contact me, either via irc, or via
redeeman@<nospam>metanurb.dk and then we arrange something.
i hope you will find it useful

Hmmm, flx, how about creating links, etc., to this stuff on our web page?
Thanks much Kasper.

Hi guys,
basically I created (for my own joy) suse 9.0 proffesional CD1 which with some minor
"console magic" may be used as install CD for system with reiser4.
basically its 2.6.5 kernel + v4 latest snapshot + reiser4progs
in initrd image (so you can create reiser4 partition and then point
suse autoyast to install on it).
two things that left to solve:
- modularize the kernel (so it become multiplatform, and multihardware).
- RPM'ize the kernel and put it on CD (so you can install it right out
of autoyast installer).
and one question needed to be answered:
- what would SuSE say if we will publish this CD image.

Hello,
Talking about livecd's, I'd mention that Recovery Is Possible has also
Reiser4. It's very often updated, kernel 2.6.5 and as I noticed it always
has the latest from everything and only 26 MB download:
http://www.tux.org/pub/people/kent-robotti/looplinux/rip/
I made some "real world" ntfsclone benchmarks what I use very often during
NTFS development (e.g. test suite). It reads the NTFS allocation bitmap,
seeks to the used data positions on the source device, seeks to the same
position in the destination sparse file or block device and copy the data
thus the clone is immediately mountable.
Resiser4 beat everybody: ext2, ext3, xfs, reiserfs, jfs and even including
raw cloning between partitions! I've never seen such before for any
filesystem, it _indeed_ optimizes the disk seeks significantly.
It was about 5% faster than raw cloning and at least 10% faster then the
next fastest filesytems (ext2 and xfs). I can send full details if one is
interested.
Congratulations!
Szaka

sure, at the point, this cd doesent have any site (but will get soon.)
right now there are 3 mirrors for torrent file:
www.damnsite.net/mrnugget/LiveCD-Gentoo-Reiser4.iso.torrent
www.eikke.com/uploads/LiveCD-Gentoo-Reiser4.iso.torrent
http://oneofone.limitlessfx.com/love-sources/LiveCD-Gentoo-Reiser4.iso.torrent
feel free to add the links to the site, or wait to i create a webpage
for the livecd.
