Hi,
As the subject line says, I have noticed that all the
"PCM Capture", "MIC Capture", "AC97 Capture" etc
devices have vanished from my alsamixer application. I
am using the current CVS alsa-driver, alsa-lib and
alsa-utils, and have checked on both a SB-Live! and a
SB-Audigy2 card.
The biggest problem this caused me was that it became
extremely difficult to resolve a microphone feedback
problem that I was having in GnomeMeeting, especially
since it was being caused by the "PCM Capture"
setting.
Is this anything to do with the alsa-lib being
1.0.7-rc1 but the alsa-utils still being 1.0.6?
Thanks for any insights here,
Cheers,
Chris

Ah, thanks.

Actually, some kind of visual clue that you *can*
toggle between playback and capture controls like this
would be enough.
Cheers,
Chris

Hi,
Try to use F3, F4 key to toggle between playback and capture controls.
To James Courtier-Dutton:
I think, it would be better to have old behavior of alsamixer as
default, because this will be problem for users. Also key for switch
to default view (all controls) is mising (for playback - F3, and for
capture - F4 is there, but not for all).

Well in my view, pressing F1 for HELP should have been enough.
Now it works much like the Windows mixer (Separate Playback/Capture), so
I would have thought that it would now result in fewer problems.
I think it will really help people that are having problems capturing
sound from the mic or line in.
If you press F1, then ENTER, you get back to the old method of
displaying everything together.

Except that F1 just brings up the gnome-terminal help
browser...

This is not intuitive. I don't like that the mode is changed silently
after back from the help screen. Instead, I'd like to have a key to
change to ALL view mode (e.g. pressing F5).
How about the change the title line like below?
